Explore the Old Town where you will find a variety of Restaurants, towering Islamic arches, Renaissance buildings and it's incredibly gorgeous historic center.

Travel 

The city itself is very compact, so you can easily walk around all areas of the City in 30 minutes so essentially you won’t need to use transport, however there is plenty available!  

Travelling by car is the easiest way to get around at your own pace. 

The main international airports near Cáceres are Madrid, Seville, and Lisbon, all within 250-300 km away. 

There are several regular trains running around Cáceres and the railway station is on the outskirts of the City, taxis are available however it is only a 10-minute walk from the city. 

There are buses available all around the City and easily accessible, taking you all around the city and also to popular locations nearby. 

Cáceres was founded by the Romans in 25 BC and is located in the autonomous community of Extremadura known as a monumental city. 

The Maltravieso caves are full of hundreds of paintings including the world's oldest known painting which is the Red hand stencil which is over 67,000 years old. 

In the 3rd-4th Centuries the Romans built walls around Cáceres, some of the remains still exist to this day including the gateway, the Arco del Cristo. 

During the Reconquista and the Discovery of the Americas, Cáceres flourished as the nobles and influential Spanish families-built palaces and homes which helped the expansion of Cáceres. 

In the 19th Century Cáceres became the Capital City of the Extremadura region.
