Visit the Hereford Cathedral and admire its beautiful architecture and interesting artefacts, have a look around to take in all aspects of its history and see it’s Mappa Mundi and the unique chained library. 

In the middle of town, you will find the Iconic Hereford Bull Statue, in front of the museum, with its impressive size it shows how large these animals really are. Whilst in town you will find a range of restaurants and a good spot for shopping! 

Visit the St Peter’s Church in the Centre of the City, it’s beautiful architecture and interesting features, along with the Glass art Exhibition and café making it a great spot to spend an afternoon! There are also many other churches in the area to explore, such as the All saints Church or the St Francis Xavier’s Church, amongst many.  

Spend some time in the Black and White House Museum in High Town, giving an insight into the Jacobean times in the 17th Century Hereford. 

Take a wonder across the Medieval Bridge on the River Wye, you will be able to take in the view of the Cathedral Church and the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Ethelbert which tower above it. 

Hereford Cider museum is a great place to visit, and you can enjoy an exhibition to find out how the cider is made, and you can even try a selection of ciders from their shop. 

Travel 

Hertford is North of London, so is easily accessed by road, train or air. 

One of the best ways to get around is by car, there is parking in the City so you can then walk around the area to explore it further. 

You can also hire bikes to get around the City at ease, and there are a few companies that offer hire such as Climb on Bikes or Beryl Bikes share scheme. 

Hertford has a good bus network to get you around the City and locations nearby. 

The Nearest airport is the Bristol (BRS) Airport, other nearby airports such as Birmingham (BHX) and East Midlands (EMA). You can travel into Hereford by bus, train or car which are all available at the airports to choose from.

Hereford is best known as a Cathedral City, and it lies on the River Wye, It’s origin dates to Saxon times. 

The Saxons Arrived in the 7th Century and by 676 AD it was made the seat of a Bishop, then by 700 AD it had grown into a town. 

Hereford expanded during the rule of the Norman And French Kings from 1066, the town became one of the most important in the country with its massive stone castle and thriving marketplace. 

In 1100 a stone bridge was built across the Wye to replace the Wooden one, in 1204 The Bishop’s Palace was built next to the Cathedral & at the end of the 12th Century they built stone walls around Hereford. 

Hereford Cathedral dates back to 1079 making it one of the oldest Cathedrals in England, it contains a medieval map of the world from the 13th Century, called the ‘’Mappa Mundi’’ and a chained library, allowing the books to be read as they extend out but not removed from the library.

St Peter’s Church, built in 1087 has a rich history and is in the historic heart of the City, next to the Town Hall, Shire Hall & the fallen of Hereford. The Building was restored in 1888 but it was a very cold and dark building but in recent years has been refurbished again.
