The Square of Plaza del Pilar is one of the best ways to see the historical buildings, the City of Zaragoza is filled with many churches and other monumental buildings.

You can visit the Palacio de la Aljafería which today houses the headquarters of the Aragonese Parliament, the Palace is open daily from April through to October and Saturday to Wednesday the rest of the year with guided tours available. 

The Museum of the Roman Theatre is an exhibition space with archaeological remains and very interesting artifacts to see. 

The stone Bridge across the River Ebro is also known as the Bridge of Lions due to 4 lions being placed on the pillars at each end of the bridge and is great to see whilst exploring the City. 

The city has a lot of different shops to explore and many Restaurants and Bars too. 

Travel 

Zaragoza Airport is an International Airport near Zaragoza, you can get a bus from the airport to the city Centre it will take around 20-30 minutes or by taxi. 

You can hire a bike in Zaragoza to get around as it is a very flat City so ideal to get around. 

There are Buses that run throughout the day, and a Tram that runs through the City and has central stops.

You can hire a car to get around the City and there are companies at the Airport available to hire from.

You can also travel around by Taxi, and it doesn’t cost too much. 

History of Zaragoza

Zaragoza is in the Northeastern area of Spain and best known for its Roman Heritage. 

The Aljafería Palace which is an 11th century fortified Moorish Castle, is a stunning historic Castle, with remains of its towers surrounding the area. 

Zaragoza has two Cathedrals in it´s city, and both are situated in the square of Zaragoza by the Ebro River. 

The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is a Roman Catholic Church and was built between the 17th & 18th Centuries.  With its incredible towers and structure sitting along the Banks of the Ebro River. 

The Cathedral of the Savior is a Roman Catholic Cathedral began construction in the 12th Century and finished around 1704, it has 5 naves with its interesting exterior of stone carvings, grand exteriors and stained glass windows, located on the Plaza de la Seo.

San Pablo church is a Gothic-Mudéjar building which was built during the 13th & 14th Century to replace a small Romanesque Chapel, with it being enlarged and modified over the years. 

The Lonja de Zaragoza is a superb 16th Century building constructed in brick with a decorative exterior with rows of arched windows and depictions of medallions from the Kings of Aragon. It stands on the Grand Plaza del Pilar across from the Cathedral Basilica. The Building it the best example of Aragonese Renaissance architecture.
