Walking around Dinard is like walking back in the 19th century, with its luxurious Belle Epoque villas and the blue and white striped beach tents.

Dinard has been given the epithet “Nice of the North” for its stately atmosphere, as now many of the palatial homes are listed. They can be seen by doing the walk of « Promenade Clair de Lune » which meanders along with the coastline, the walk is also beautiful during the summer evening as it’s all lit. 

The town also boasts beautiful beaches, which are Ecluse, Prieuré, Saint-Enogat and Port Blanc.

Not to far from from the Prieuré beach, the largest expanse of parkland in Dinard, the Parc de Port Breton has an equestrian centre, children’s play area, water features, zoological park with around 40 species of animal and birds, and a plant nursery - an all-around great trip idea for the whole family.

Only a couple of kilometers away from Dinard lies the fortified town of Saint-Malo, which offers sights and attractions to all types of visitors. You can walk the cobbled streets of the historic town within the ramparts.

How to get around Dinard? 

Getting around the seaside town of Dinard is very easy as everything is within walking distance. When you get to the town centre and after parking your car (if driving) you can easily wander around.

Saint-Malo has a good bus system, with the main terminals located at the train station and just outside the walls called St Vincent. Unfortunately there are no bus services late in the evening.

Ryanair serves Dinard-Pleurtuit-St-Malo Airport, 7 km away from Dinard. There is no public transportation to/from the airport. aYou will have to take a taxi to head where you need to. 

Unfortunately there is no train station in Dinard, the closest station is in Saint-Malo 4 kilometers from Dinard, the train station is located over a kilometer south of the city centre.  There are a few direct TGV services daily from Paris (Gare de Montparnasse), which take about three hours. 

Dinard is a seaside resort town located in Brittany in northwestern France. 

Dinard’s history really starts in the 19th century, as the resort became popular with wealthy British tourists, who built magnificent villas on the coast. Dinard rapidly expanded and became one of the most popular seaside resorts in Europe.

The religious site of Dinard represents a particularly interesting heritage, which testifies to local seaside life. One of the oldest religious sites from Dinard will surely be the chapel Prieuré, an old monastery built in the 14th century was rebuilt in the 1980, the chapel was made into the Brittany style. It has very interesting floor tiles representing the ermine of Brittany and the shell of the pilgrims of Compostela.

Today, Dinard is considered as one of the most "British" of sea resorts in France, therefore there are a few protestant places of worship across the town. Such as the Anglican Saint Bartholomew's Church, the small church is welcoming everybody with services in English and providing a library with English books. 

During your spiritual journey, it is also great to stop at the priory of Dinard, you can stroll along the gardens of the priory and head to the beach. It is the perfect place to meditate and appreciate the beauty of the landscape, in an ideal historic setting with its old stones and stories from the past.
