Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Paix, Chimay


The Abbey is located in the city center of Chimay, Belgium.

Faithful to the long monastic tradition and, in particular, to Saint Benedict, the sisters welcome you to their guesthouse, whether you are single women, couples, families or even a group for a limited time of renewal, deepening of faith, reflection. And are also welcome pilgrims and students in period of revisions or internship.

Please note : single men are not accepted in this accomodation.

How to reach the abbey by public transport?

  1. Coming from the interior of the country: take the train to the South station of Charleroi; then take the TEC 109 A bus, get off at the Bouchère stop. The abbey is a few meters away. From Charleroi, the journey takes around 1 hour 10 minutes.
  2. Coming from Couvin: take bus 60/1 towards Chimay, get off at Place Froissart, walk 10 min. or take line 109a towards Charleroi and get off at the 1st stop, place de La Bouchère. From Couvin, it will take you around 50 min.
  3. Coming from Mons: by train get off at Charleroi Sud then in front of the station take bus 109A to La Bouchère (Chimay) the monastery is a few steps from the bus stop.

By car from the highway exit at Asquillies turn right then 1st left and follow the signs Beaumont, then Rance, then Chimay after the first shops when arriving at Place de la Bouchère, turn right and the monastery is there on the left.
