Located in the small Belgian village of Maredret is the Benedictine Abbey, also known as the Abbey of Saints John and Scholastic, the sisters welcome you during your stay for a personal rejuvenation.

The monastic hotel offers rooms with two beds or individual rooms, furnished in a simple and uncluttered manner. Peace and silence reign in the corridors of the whole Abbey.

History

The abbey of Maredret is a monastery of Benedictine nuns founded at the end of the 19th century, the abbey church has remarkable stained glass windows and a refectory whose mosaic floor is in a magnificent state of conservation.

The Maredret abbey, jewels of religious heritage, the sisters of Maredret welcome you and invite you to come and visit their Abbey Church, a veritable neo-Gothic treasure.

The nuns of Maredret are experts in Gothic illumination, this work is based on the long monastic tradition. They desire to offer all kinds of ways to meet the Lord, and one way is through artistic expression.

Food & beverage

All meals are served in the guest dining hall on the ground floor. Meals are self-service.

After the meal, the hosts are invited to lend a hand to clear the table, to do the dishes. and set the tables. The community favors relationships and sharing.

Grounds & Gardens

The monastic reception has a beautiful garden, a place of exchange and sharing.

In summer, guests can sit in a beautiful private garden or enjoy the nature that surrounds the abbey. Many walks are possible in the Valley and the surrounding countryside.

Other facilities

The Sister responsible for the monastic reception is at your disposal for any questions relating to your stay. She will happily watch over your well-being.

A small oratory upstairs welcomes guests for a heart to heart with the Lord. A small library is located just off the living room. And also, a lounge is available to guests.
