Accueil Notre-Dame, Bétharram

History

Betharram means "beautiful branch".

According to tradition, a young girl having fallen into the Gave, invoked the Madonna when the torrent was about to engulf her. Suddenly a branch of a tree was under her hand, and she returned to the shore.

In gratitude, she placed a branch of a golden tree on the altar of the protectress, and the name of Betharram was adopted for this blessed place.

Food & beverage

Lunches and dinners are served on site, half board and full board possible.

In front of the Sanctuary begins the famous Calvary with 15 chapels on the hill, ending with the "Resurrection" on a beautiful esplanade.

Masses / Celebrations

Mass during the week at 11:15 am:

at the community oratory until April 14 and from November 4.
at the Sanctuary of St Michel Garicoïts from April 15 to November 3.
Eucharistic adoration on Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Closed ½ hour before the opening hours of the Sanctuaries

The museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility

Reception

The guest house offers comfortable rooms in the very heart of the Sanctuary.
A reception room with tables and a small kitchen is available for pilgrims on the Way of Saint Jacques de Compostela.
Two large equipped meeting rooms are also at your disposal for your seminars.
