Overview

After two years of repair work, the building has been adapted as: Monastery for the resident communiy of sisters, guest house for pilgrims and visitors, conference centre and meeting hall.

The Centre overlooks the Old City of Jerusalem; Gethsemane, the Tomb of The Blessed Lady and other Shrines are within easy reach. Individuals or small groups are always welcome for short or long stays; to meditate, to reflect or to write; the choice is yours.

History

The House itself, standing on a site of two hectares and located at the foot of Mount of Olives, was built during the period of 1974-76 as a medical research centre,the Gedda Institute, named after its founder Prof. Luigi Gedda. The property was subsequently donated to the Holy See and in 2004 Pope John Paul II entrusted it to the Bridgettine Order to establish a foundation devoted to Christian Unity and to Inter-Religious Dialogue.

On December 8th 2006, After two years of repair work, the building has been adapted as: Monastery for the resident communiy of sisters, guest house for pilgrims and visitors, conference centre and meeting hall.

Those unable to check-in/check-out in the fixed times must contact the property directly and inform the staff. Located opposite down the Mount of Olives next to the Old city (10 minutes walk) to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (20 minutes)and Al Aqsa Mosque (15 minutes) as well as close to the central bus station from where you can reach Bethlehem and several towns around Jerusalem.

There is a big parking place and a big garden where you can rest after a beautiful pilgrimage day.
