Overview

Set half a mile above sea level the Convento dei Frati Minori Cappuccini is a place of quietude and serenity, the perfect arena for long, relaxing walks. In 1529, the founding Benedictine monks were replaced by the Capuchin friars.

26 triple and quadruple rooms, 20 with private bath. Both men and women are welcome. Towels and linens are supplied at additional expense.

History

At the beginning of 1900, the structure was altered, its original style lost in the renovation. Nevertheless, the church is still quite pretty and contains a remarkable wooden altar by the Bottini Masters (1904). The convent’s beautiful courtyard reveals a 13th century stone well. The interior is highlighted by two handsome frescoes: one represents the Benedictine Saint Francis of Titelmans, the other the Last Supper by Toti, an artist from Fiuggi.
