History

St. Augustine’s Priory was once a hotel and at a later stage in it’s history was home to a Community of Augustinian Nuns.

In 1939 The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (The Chigwell Sisters) took over the Priory. 

Over the years it has served as a holiday home for the Sisters, a Guest House and a Residential Nursing Home. 

In 2010 the process began to change the use of the Priory into a ‘House of Prayer’. 

Situated in Old Colwyn, Colwyn Bay, within easy reach and walking distance of the promenade and beach.

There are of course, many beauty spots and places of interest just a walk, car or a bus ride away.

The Church of the Sacred Heart, adjoining the Priory, was built by the Chigwell Sisters after the Second World War in thanksgiving for their protection during the war.

It is no longer a Parish Church and serves as the Chapel of the Priory for Retreatants and visitors.                             

There is also a side Chapel, a ’Sacred Space’, giving an additional place for quiet reflection and prayer.

Food & beverage

All meals are home cooked and freshly prepared each day.  
Special dietary requirements are catered for with prior notice.

Grounds & Gardens

The garden is for the use of all Retreatants, with seating   to enjoy tranquillity and peace away from the busy-ness of life.

Within the garden is a wild flower garden that attracts many butterflies and bees.
There is also a small Labyrinth for personal or group use.

On site parking is available.
