Anon In a religious institution one expects austere small rooms, but not such a capacious desk and so much light. A perfect place to stay for a week (if you can get up and down stairs), with ample storage in sensible en-suite including kettle and shower, decent communal breakfast in hall, all an easy walk (or bus ride) from Oxford libraries. There's no porter or reception: check-in envelope only, but plenty of morning staff - after phoning was I kindly let in to retrieve personal items from a drawer.	4.8

The accommodation was exactly what I needed - quiet, economical, unpretentious and uncomplicated, easy to find and easy to leave. The centre of Oxford is within walking distance, and there are several bus routes nearby too. The Iffley Road Sports Centre is a few minutes away, and has an excellent choice of classes, a gym, a pool and a running track. Pay as you go access is very reasonable. Overall, this is a good place to stay when visiting Oxford, and I would recommend it.	5.0

It is quiet and a short walk from the city centre. There is no porter so support is minimal. But there is a contact number to use during extended hours each day. I had upgraded from the basic single and this was a huge step up for not much more money. It was in a part of the building that had more noise but that dissipated as the evening progressed. I had issues with wifi and lightbulbs and the housekeeping staff could not have been more helpful sorting this out.	4.5

It was a pleasant 10 mins walk into the city centre and worked out well as a good form of daily exercise - another plus. The bells toll at 7:25am and 8am and could make good wake up calls for some. Common showers and WCs were clean. The entrance to the stairs had an initial smell. Overall great value.	4.8

TARAM We had a wonderful stay at St Stephen's - booking was really easy, fantastic instructions sent prior to visit - great being able to just let ourselves in and collect our keys from the little basket. Although very basic the room met our needs and we still considered it good value for money given the prices of rooms in some of the hotels in Oxford. We were in Room BB02 and the only thing I would say is it could do with a light in the sink area as the lighting wasn't very good in there. It was also really good being able to park at the back and the parking was again very reasonable. We were really impressed with the cooked breakfast on the Sunday and it was great to stay at the college during term time and feel part of "college life" - all in all top marks and we would have no hesitation in booking here again!	5.0

My room at St Stephen's was excellent value - more than I would have got at a standard hotel at such short notice. The room was comfortable, with a desk and an ensuite. Checking in and out was very straightforward. The breakfast was absolutely brilliant, and set me up well for the day ahead. The college itself is tucked away off Cowley road but ideally situated for walking into the centre of town. Overall, a very pleasant experience and I wouldn't hesitate to book again.	5.0

In terms of the 'shared' facilities these turned out to be almost entirely for me - so even-though it was not an ensuite room - more than adequate and very acceptable indeed, especially for the price. Breakfast (Saturday morning - so brunch from 10.30am (one could have opted for a continental from earlier) was quite superb. Cannot recommend highly enough. I will definitely be back. Louise and the housekeeping staff are also fantastic professionals and in terms of interpersonal skills and making people feel welcome, could show many a hotel a thing or two. Finally, if you stay here, you are also helping out a part of England's heritage, and not a large corporate - so this was also a bonus for me - although I did not know it at the time of booking.	5.0

This is a typical functioning university B&B and offers a good insight into such an establishment. The service from the staff was excellent with assistance in luggage storage prior to room availability. Note that the advertised room availability time is adhered to. The room is presented with modern fitout within an old historic setting and was spotlessly clean. The room was very large with a separate lounge/kitchenette that can include folding bed for an additional person. Bathroom facilities were excellent. A little labryinthine and a long way to the Bishops' Room from the parking area (which is a great advantage in Oxford), but we expected that -- it was just a little difficult since we had all of our baby's stuff with us. The room was a bit shabby but in a nice way (if that makes sense), and the bed was EXTREMELY comfortable. The people working the breakfast service were extremely kind but the food wasn't all that fantastic; I had a better breakfast at Christchurch the next day, for example. All in all we have wonderful memories of St. Stephen's and would certainly stay there again if traveling into Oxford by car and with our child (the cloister is a wonderful oasis for a baby to crawl around in).	4.2

The room was basic - though I did have a view of the gleaming spires - but clean and the showers also hot and bathrooms clean. Breakfast - a choice of English and Continental was good. Everyone was friendly and the cloisters were a delight to sit in after a hard days sightseeing - Car parking was a bit expensive at St Stephen's £2.50 a day would be more appropriate as this also the cost to use the cities park and ride scheme - St Stephen's is in the Cowley Road area where there are lots of restaurants, cafes and shops - very much a buzzing student area. The beds were comfortable and the room service was good. We particularly liked the peacefull atmosphere. The only thing was the continental breakfast, which did not have much variation. Queries were answered promptly and calmed any worry I might have had about the stay. We arrived before 5.00pm and we were shown to our room by a helpful member of the admin staff. The room was clean and tidy. The towel with complimentary soap,shower gell and shampoo was a nice grace note. The breakfast was supereb! The single ensuite room was fantastic - clean, bright and practical. The double rooms varied - one was excellent, the other rather cramped and hot. Nevertheless, our overall experience was very positive. Beautiful, peaceful setting. Excellent breakfast with plenty of food for children (who invariably wanted seconds!). Everyone was very helpful.
