Overview

Why not spend the night at The Friars Aylesford if you are travelling to Kent and planning to stay the night? A guesthouse with 80 rooms is housed in the mediaeval priory, which is surrounded by acres of gorgeous grounds.

The  accommodation is ideal for everyone, providing quick access to London and the Euro tunnel station. The Old Block and the New Block, two independent buildings with rooms each, both include a common lobby where visitors may unwind, watch TV, or meet up while taking advantage of unlimited tea and coffee service.

The guesthouse offers basic but cosy accommodations.

History

The main residence of the Carmelite monastic order, which arrived in Kent in 1242, is located close to Aylesford by the River Medway, which is flanked with trees. During a quick stroll through the grounds, one may find artwork and structures that tell the riveting tale of the Aylesford Carmelites and Friars, who were expelled from their priory in 1538 and returned 400 years later, in 1949. Here you may see one of the best preserved mediaeval courtyards in England, as well as thatched barns from the 17th century and a pilgrim inn from the late 1200s.
