Witley Common's heathland has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty thus complimenting other areas such as Box Hill and Frensham Common. There are large and historic country houses and gardens throughout the county along with many typical and picturesque English villages. Runnymede was the site of the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215 whilst there are also significant mediaeval Abbeys.
