Overview

Foxhill possesses a beautiful setting nestled in the Cheshire Hills and is enveloped by seventy acres of mature woodland. Frodsham is a lively market town located where the River Weaver meets the mouth of the Mersey. The town was an important Mersey port during the Middle Ages and a staging post during the stagecoach era. 17th, 18th and 19th-century buildings flank its spacious tree-lined street.

The accommodation provided is about 30 beds in single, double and family rooms plus 2 rooms equipped for the disabled. All rooms have private baths.

History

A charming old country house, Foxhill was built in the 1860s for a local clergyman and then owned by other businessmen until it was acquired by a member of the Pilkington family. The head of the family was a devoted, generous man who decided to donate the house to the Bishop of Chester in 1969. The Diocese converted the house into a retreat and conference centre organizing retreats, workshops and conferences for the clergy. Today Foxhill offers hospitality to individuals, groups and families for short holidays when not occupied by those on retreats. “Our main policy is not to turn anyone away,” said the Warden.
