Überblick

Foxhill liegt wunderschön eingebettet in den Cheshire Hills und ist von 30 Hektar altem Wald umgeben. Frodsham ist eine lebhafte Marktstadt an der Mündung des Flusses Weaver in den Mersey. Im Mittelalter war die Stadt ein wichtiger Hafen des Mersey und während der Postkutschenzeit eine wichtige Zwischenstation. Gebäude aus dem 17., 18. und 19. Jahrhundert säumen die großzügige, baumgesäumte Straße.

Das Unterkunftsangebot umfasst ca. 30 Betten in Einzel-, Doppel- und Familienzimmern sowie 2 behindertengerechte Zimmer. Alle Zimmer verfügen über ein eigenes Bad.


Geschichte

A charming old country house, Foxhill was built in the 1860s for a local clergyman and then owned by other businessmen until it was acquired by a member of the Pilkington family. The head of the family was a devoted, generous man who decided to donate the house to the Bishop of Chester in 1969. The Diocese converted the house into a retreat and conference centre organizing retreats, workshops and conferences for the clergy. Today Foxhill offers hospitality to individuals, groups and families for short holidays when not occupied by those on retreats. “Our main policy is not to turn anyone away,” said the Warden.

All meals can be supplied with the lodging. The choices range from lodging only to full board and all combinations are possible.

By car: From London take M1 and exit at junction 19. Take M6 towards Birmingham. Continue on M6 until junction 20 then exit M6 and take M56 toward Chester/Runcorn. Leave M56 at junction 12 and take A557 to Frodsham/Widnes. At the roundabout take the first exit on A557 following the signs to Frodsham and A56. Turn right on A56 and continue on A56 for about two miles, then turn left into Tarvin Road (B5393). By train: Take a train from London Euston to Chester, Warrington or Manchester and then change to Frodsham or Helsby. From either station take a taxi to Foxhill (5 minutes).
