Monasterio de San Pelayo, Santiago de Compostela

Monastery

Overview

The life of the monastery has always been tied to that of the city. Apart from being a very famous pilgrimage site, Santiago is also a university town. In that regard, the monastery hosts female students of the University of Santiago. Since the nuns live in seclusion, only a portion of the complex can be visited. An attractive Romanesque church is open to the public as well as a small museum exhibiting objects of the monastery: paintings, religious ornaments and antique parchments.

The monastery's accommodation features 5 beds in 1 single and 2 double rooms with private bath. Women and married couples are welcome.
