Abbaye Saint-Maurice, Clervaux

历史

The abbey was founded by the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of St. Maur of Glanfeuil in France.

In 1908, a vote was taken by the monastic chapter, which made the decision to dissolve the existing monastery, and to found a new monastery there,

The Benedictine abbey was built in a neo-Romanesque style using stone extracted on site, which contrasts with the terracotta roof tiles.

The monks arrived in August 1910 to begin living at the new site. In 1926, the name of St. Maur was added to that of St. Maurice.

All meals must be taken at the monastery in silence.

Please be exact for meal times. Advise in time in case of absence.

The community welcomes men and sometimes women.

1 - Minors must be accompanied by a parent or by adults authorized by the parents.

2 - The monks meet the ladies in the visiting rooms, not in their rooms. The same goes for vulnerable people and minors. The sacrament of reconciliation cannot currently be received in a confessional in the church, but in a visiting room.

3 - Access to the garden is for Gentlemen only.

• 8. 00 to 8.45 Breakfast in silence, in the guest room.
• 10.00 MASS CONCELEBRATED with TIERCE (end of 10:50 am)
• 12. 45 SEXT (Guests then meet in the entrance hall. Please keep silence in the cloister when coming to the Community refectory.)
• 13. 00 Lunch followed by coffee in the guest room. Break
• 14. 15 NONE
• 16. 15 to 17.00 SNACK in the guest room.
• 18. 00 VESPERS / 17. 00: Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
• 19. 30 Evening meal (The hosts meet 5 minutes before, in the lobby. Recess.)
• 8:30 p.m. COMPLIES

The hosts wishing to meet personally a monk-priest or a brother make the request to the Father hotelier, as well as the priests who wish to concelebrate or say the mass in private. During the concelebration, they will try to quietly follow the song.

On the 1st floor, the "Saint-Jérôme" reading room is available, as well as an internal telephone located at the place of access to the garden, itself open to guests.

Smoking is prohibited inside the building. Both balconies are available for this purpose.
