历史

The ancient convent of the conventual Franciscan friars, dedicated to St. Anthony, has been renovated and transformed into a house of hospitality. Today it is shown in all its beauty combined with comfort to welcome pilgrims and visitors.

The origins of the first nucleus of the complex date back to 1220 with a small chapel and a few cells on the ground floor. Enlarged over time up to the current plant in 1770. With the abolition of religious orders, it was expropriated (like many other convents) and confiscated from the state property. In 1869 it was bought by private individuals and used as a manufacturing center (tobacco factory, oil mill, food preserves).

A long period of total disuse follows before it slowly returns to the ecclesiastical property, through donations from the Torsello family and subsequent direct purchases of the parish.

The recovery and renovation works began in 2010 with donations and community resources and completed with the direct intervention of the CEI; intervention that combined the vocation of the building to prayer and meditation, with the location in the birthplace and burial place of Don Tonino Bello, whose canonization process at the time sanctioned its Venerability with a decree of His Holiness Pope Francis of 25/11/2021.
