The Congregation was founded in Como on April 7, 1833 by Francesca Butti and Maria Rossi, two young friends. Inserted in the parish and formed within the Pious Work Association of St. Dorothea, at the age of twenty they developed the desire to consecrate themselves to the Lord. Under the guidance of the parish priests, they began to welcome some young girls from the suburb, orphans or who lived in a state of neglect, into their home to help them in their growth. They dedicated themselves to the literacy of the workers, to the animation of the Sunday oratory in the parish of S. Agata in Como, outside the city walls where the poorest families lived.
The life of the first community was characterized by mutual bodily and spiritual help with a humble, simple and obedient lifestyle. An illuminating reason and source of apostolic animation is for the Daughters of the Presentation the Mystery of the Presentation of Mary Most Holy. to the Temple: they imitate the Virgin in her welcoming attitude of the Father's plan and make themselves available to share it with others. The seed planted by the young foundresses grew slowly and bore fruit in Lombardy, Liguria, Lazio and Campania.
In 1963, accepting the invitation of the Second Vatican Council, the Congregation opened up to the Mission ad gentes and welcomed the first group of Indian aspirants to Italy. In 1968 the Congregation landed in India and in 1969 the first house was established in Perumpunna, in the state of Kerala in southern India. Later the novitiate was opened and over the years the Daughters of the Presentation reached other states of India - Andhra Pradesh, Gujarath, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Assam, Orisasa, Meghalaya where they dedicate themselves to the education and training of women.
In 2008 the Congregation arrived in Papua New Guinea, in 2011 a new Mission was started in Africa in Tanzania, in 2014 in Kenya and in 2017 in Indonesia. Wherever they are are, the Daughters of the Presentation are dedicated to the human and Christian formation of children, young people and the least.

Many thanks for this stay. The accommodation was perfect for us - clean room, comfortable bed, ample storage space. And breakfast was good, though maybe some fresh fruit would be a nice addition. The sisters were very welcoming and friendly. A quiet place with easy bus transport right to the centre of the city. God bless! John & Rosemary, Lancaster, Regno Unito. JohnR

Had a very pleasant stay, for 4 nights. The room was simple, clean, with its own bathroom. The sisters were nice, and although it’s a little out of the city centre, the bus and metro are close. Would definitely come back! JulieM
