概述

Charney Manor is a 13th century stone building originally constructed as a grange for Abingdon Abbey when the abbey owned extensive portions of the land in the area. Today the Manor, known for being one of the oldest inhabited houses in Britain, is a conference and retreat centre, managed by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). It offers hospitality to groups (guided and self-organized) in the main house and to individuals in a recently restored cottage on the grounds of the manor. Inside the Manor: 36 beds in 14 singles with private bath and 11 twins (two of which can be family rooms) with shared baths. Both men and women are welcome, but only as a group (20 people minimum). The Cottage: The Gilletts were originally two separate cottages that have been recently restored to form one single larger cottage that can sleep up to 10 people in 3 twins, two singles plus a sofa bed and folding beds. Baths are shared.
