In the 15th and 16th centuries, the abbey became an important art and cultural center, attracting learned scholars and artists from throughout Europe. Of special interest is the 36-scene fresco by Luca Signorelli and Sodoma. It is considered a masterpiece of High Renaissance narrative painting.The work of some of the most important Della Robbia artists including Giovanni da Verona, Giovanni Antonio Bazzi and Duccio da Buoninsegna are among the abbey’s treasures.
Unfortunately, Meals are not offered with the lodging. Guests can have their meals at a nearby restaurant. The property has a 24h drinks and snack machine.
There is a large dining/living room area, a recreational area and large backyard that guests may use. There is also a chapel, meeting rooms and private parking.

By car: Exit highway A1 at Bettolle-Valdichiana and take route 438 to Asciano across the Crete hills to Monte Oliveto (13 km). By train:Take the Firenze-Siena line (from Florence) or the Siena-Chiusi-Chianciano (from Rome). Get off at Asciano.According to the monks, public transportation is complicated.They suggest taking a taxi or car.
