In the 11th-century, the institution was a Dominican convent. It was destroyed during the French Revolution and the friars were forced to leave. The Dominican Order was replaced by a community of Franciscan sisters who built an orphanage over the ruins and preserved the original 11th century portal. The chapel houses a 14th-century statue of the Holy Virgin of the Travelers and the 17th-century retable of St-Hyacinthe.
In 1999 a Polish community of nuns bought the complex and then restored and converted it into a large and very active guest house. During the summer months, there are concerts and dances and the Maison is filled with families and groups of young people.
