Oversikt

Gjestehus sentralt beliggende i en rolig del av Majorstua. Lokalene drives av en katolsk menighet av dominikanere og tilbyr korttidsinnkvartering (min. to netter).

Katarinahjemmet har ti enkeltrom og fire dobbeltrom, alle med egen balkong og vask. Dusj og bad på gangen.
Gjestene kan fritt bruke datamaskinen og det trådløse internettilgangen i biblioteket, og kapellet står også til gjestenes disposisjon.

Bønn er det dypeste åndedrag, en livsholdning som streber etter å se alt gjennom Guds øyne. Bønn sammen og individuelt er derfor livets fundament. Søstrene møtes flere ganger om dagen for å be. Alle er invitert til å be sammen med søstrene.

Historie

The community is composed by today of 10 sisters, but the number will go up and down with time. The composition has gone from French to French-Norwegian, to Norwegian-French, to today's international community with sisters from Norway, Poland, Vietnam, the Philippines, and India.

Mat og Drikke

Breakfast is served in the dining room. It is served as a buffet.

  • Monday – Friday 07:00 – 09:00
  • Saturday 08:15 – 09:15
  • Sunday 09:00 – 10:15

Unfortunately, they are unable to adapt the menu to special dietary needs.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to cook your own food at Sta. Katarinahjemmet, but you can store some private food in the refrigerator in the guest wing.

Dining room

The dining room is on the ground floor. Lunch and evening meals are served here.

You are welcome to use the kettle and microwave. However, cups, cutlery and the like should not be removed from the dining room.

The refrigerator is only for the house's permanent resistents. Guests should use the refrigerator in the kitchenette in the guesthouse.

Lounge / TV room

In the extension of the dining room, you will find the lounge. Here there is a TV and seating areas. You are welcome to use this area.

Fireplace room

This room is located downstairs. Follow the stairs down from the floor on which you live.

Library

Close to the reception you will find the library. You are welcome to borrow books during your stay. The room is used for studying and should be quiet. Food and drinks are not allowed in the library.

Chapel

The chapel is on the ground floor of the old part of the building. To find it, walk past the library on the ground floor and continue to the end of the corridor and through the door. Go down the stairs and you will see the chapel.

  • They ask all guests to pay on arrival. From August 2020, only card payment is possible. They do not accept cash.

How to find Sta. Katarinahjemmet

  • Metro: All westbound tracks (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) stop at Majorstuen station.
  • Tram: lines 11, 12, 19 to Majorstuen (Majorstuhuset). NB! With trams 11 and 19 you can get off at the Bogstadveien stop, which is closer.
  • From Majorstuhuset it is easier to walk in Bogstadveien towards the city center on the right. When you get to Deli de Luca turn right and continue up the stairs. Continue to the top of the hill, where you will find the monastery on the left.
  • From Bogstadveien (tram stop) take the direction of Majorstuen, cross Industrigaten. When you get to Deli de Luca turn left and continue up the stairs to Platekompaniet. Continue to the top of the hill, where you will find the monastery on the left.
  • Airport bus: Either to / from SAS hotel at Holbergs plass. From there it's a 20 minute walk. Taxi in the same street as the bus stop. Or the Airport Bus Express to / from Majorstuen. From there it's a five-minute walk to Majorstuhuset (see above)
  • Flytoget: From Oslo S. or the National Theater it is possible to take the metro or tram.
