历史

The Foresteria Valdese in Florence offers holidays based on the values ​​of solidarity and responsible tourism in Tuscany, contributing with its profits to supporting activities for minors in difficulty. In fact, since 1922 the building has housed the Gould Institute which, even today, offers services and activities for the reception, training and support of minors in conditions of social hardship.

The Foresteria was therefore born in the late sixties to support the costs of the Institute and is managed by the Waldensian Diaconia, allocating its profits like the other Waldensian Houses, Hotels and Guest Houses, to support the works and projects of the Body its business by enhancing the dimensions of welcoming people, solidarity, environmental sustainability of their work.
This historic building in the center of Florence, where the reality of a stately home is intertwined with that of the Waldensian Church, is the perfect holiday home to stay in Florence, admiring prestigious works of art in a context of social commitment.

Breakfast service is available. Half board and full board can be requested only by groups.

The buffet breakfast and meals are served in the rooms on the first floor and are set menus.The menus, inspired by the Tuscan regional tradition, are prepared in the kitchens by Hoster Food. Variations available for guests following special diets for health, religious or ethical reasons.

The property has numerous meeting rooms and a monumental hall that can accommodate up to 99 people. It is possible to arrange coffee breaks, aperitifs and refreshments. This hotel uses all of its income to support the homeless, handicapped, and an orphanage that is next door. It is a very basic, but beautiful place to stay that is blocks away from the Arno river and the heart of old Florence. There is no room service. If you need something you ask. The beds are stiff and the pillows flat, but the sheets are clean and the room is just what it should be... a place to sleep since you are in Florence and there is so much to see. Source - Google

The room was basic, functional and clean, particularly the shower room and toilet. The decor was a bit dated. The location was just outside the town centre but easy to find. There was an evening event next door which provided a great feel for Florence after hours. The music was easy to hear but good on the ear so not obtrusive. However we were guided to a good restaurant for an evening meal.

Our family of four loved the overall atmosphere of the building! We appreciated how it was close to everything but not on top of all the tourism ! Plenty of places to grab a bit to eat or drink. Due to unseen circumstances we had to check in after hours, a very detailed email with video made this process effortless! It fit our budget perfectly!

Wonderful sublime stay . Extremely clean and very quiet - very comfortable. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend highly . All the best eating places are just outside the door . Molto content ! Gracie.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. Felt safe and location is great. Room clean and a good size. Only complaint is that the room would get a bit stuffy but highly recommended.

FROM FLORENCE AIRPORT: You can take the T2 Vespucci tramway line. Alternatively, you can use the taxi service (it takes 15-20 minutes and costs about 20 Euros) or the shuttle bus that runs every 30 minutes and takes you to the Central Station (the cost is 6 Euros). BY CAR: Leave the motorway at the "Firenze Impruneta" exit and continue in the direction of the center of Florence. You can enter the center, for the sole purpose of unloading your luggage, from Porta Romana on via Romana and via Maggio. At the end of the latter, turn left onto Lungarno Gucciardini, continue to the traffic lights and turn left again into via dei Serragli until you reach n ° 49 (black numbering). If you enter by car, remember to promptly communicate the license plate number to the Reception. The reception clerk will cancel the notification of your entry to the Limited Traffic Zone via the internet. Each entrance has a cost of Euro 3.00, as required by the Municipality of Florence.
