Panoramica

The Guest House at Minster Abbey is situated on the grounds of the ancient Abbey. At Minster, they welcome those who are searching for God, and a space to discover the presence of God in their lives.

The hospitality is open most of the year, and the rooms are available on a self-catering basis. They are 4 distinct areas for guests, they also have a twin room with disabled facilities. Rooms are basic, and towels are provided. 

There is also a self-contained comfortable Chalet which is suitable for a small family. (Read facilities for more details)

Female only, except for couples who would stay in the same room.

Booking requests apply for this guest house, which means your request will have to be approved. 

 


Storia

The Benedictine Nuns of St. Mildred's In Minster are a monastic community living Gospel values, under the guidance of St. Benedict's Rule. The rule of St. Benedict has been a vital force within the church for almost 1500 years. 

 

Cibo & bevande

Each guest area has a separate kitchenette with a microwave, a small fridge, a toaster, and a kettle.

They also provide supplies from a simple breakfast and beverages. (No special diet provided)

There is a local village supermarket that sells everything you'll need for lunch or dinner. Alternativaly you may like to visit one of the local eating venues or takeaway facilities. 

 

Servizi aggiuntivi

Guests are always welcome to spend quiet time in the beautiful Abbey Chapel and share in the prayer of the sisters and join the sisters  for Mass. The Abbey gardens create a prayerful, reflective environment, surrounded by the beauty of God's creation. There is a good selection of spiritual books available, and a sister can be available for a private conversation by prior arrangement. 

St. Anne’s Chalet

The chalet is suitable for small families or friends and is situated close to the Abbey grounds. It has a parking area, a small enclosed garden, a kitchen with an oven, a microwave, a fridge and freezer, and a dining area. There are two bedrooms upstairs; one twin and a single. There is a sofa that pulls out into a double bed in the sitting room if you require extra sleeping space. There is an upstairs bathroom and shower as well as a downstairs toilet. There is a washing machine and an outside line for drying clothes.

Prayer 

The Liturgy of the Hours is in English, with the exception of the office of Vespers, which is sung in Latin plainchant.

  • 8.30 am Lauds
  • 9:00 am Mass
  • 12.15 pm Midday Office
  • 5.30 pm Adoration (except Tuesday and Sundays)
  • 6:00 pm Vespers
  • 7.45 pm Compline (except Tuesday)

Minster is in East Kent in the triangle between Ramsgate, Sandwich, and Canterbury. By road, it is off the A299 leading to Ramsgate from Canterbury and London.

There is also a railway station which is on the line to the main London stations.
