There are many landmarks to visit in Valencia, with many historical and Futuristic buildings to see. The Ceramics Museum (Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas) is a spectacular sight with its decorated and ornately carved exterior.
Visit the City of Arts and Sciences, one of Europe's most impressive centers dedicated to cultural and scientific exhibitions.
You will find the largest aquarium of Europe in Valencia, the Oceanografic Valencia. With it´s unique building, you can see more than 500 different marine species and wander around seeing its 45,000 sea creatures. You can also dine in their underwater restaurant which I surrounded by a giant aquarium.
La Lonja de Seda has a magnificent structure resembling a medieval castle which was built in the 15th Century and was used as the City´s Silk Exchange. As a visitor you can climb its 144 stone steps of the tower’s helical staircase.
The Mercado Central is opposite the Lonja, it's a spacious marketplace built in 1928, the hall is filled with market stalls where vendors can sell food products.
The Cathedral of Valencia and Plaza de la Virgen is a beautiful building to visit, you can admire it´s exterior and interior features and all of it´s grand doorways. The Plaza is surrounded by several landmark buildings, the Palace of the Generalitat is among many and a Neptune fountain in its center.
The Church of Saint Thomas and Saint Philip is a beautiful Historic Monument with a decorated Baroque exterior and blue tiled dome. You can attend a Mass to see the sanctuary, however it is not open for the public to visit.
Travel
Valencia Airport is located 9 kms west of the City Centre. You can take either the metro or a Taxi from the Airport.
The best way to get around Valencia and take in your surroundings is by walking, you can walk around the Old Town or even the reconstructed river bed to the Beach. Or you can also hire a bike!
There is also a Metro system called Xátiva or a Bus system which both run throughout the day until night, lastly you can get around by Taxi or Tram. Valencia has two train Stations (Estación del Nord & Valencia Joaquín Sorolla).
