História

In the early post-war years Mons.Angelo Jelmini, Bishop of Lugano (Switzerland) in order to find accommodation for the S. Angelo marine colony for children, which he founded, commissioned Mons.Antonio Crippa, priest of the Diocese of Bergamo (who during the conflict he had helped Archbishop Jelmini in the rescue of children victims of war in Italy), to look for a suitable land on the Ligurian Riviera for the construction of the colony.

After careful research, Mons. Crippa pointed out the possibility of buying Villa San Giuseppe, at the time Villa Angiolina, with adjoining land. He was given the mandate to begin and conclude negotiations with the owner, but initially Bishop Jelmini asked the Bishop of Bergamo Monsignor Bernareggi to help him find an Italian owner as a solution for the purchase of the Villa.

Mons.Bernareggi found the Juventus company of Bergamo (a company created by the Bishop's Curia of Bergamo, owner of several religious institutes) which initially registered the Villa to himself but with all the guarantors declarations about the real property, the Diocese of Lugano.

The assets were then purchased on the 6th of November 1948, under the name of the Juventus company and only after 1971 they definitively passed to the Diocese of Lugano.

The property offers its guests a simple, varied and tasty cuisine, made with seasonal ingredients. Particular attention is paid to food allergies and intolerances.

The Villa offers a restaurant with a maximum capacity of 150 people, an ideal space for ceremonies. In addition to the restaurant, guests can also take advantage of a lounge bar, with large windows and views of the park.

For the little ones, the property offers a diet suitable for every type of need, both for babies and children. On request the staff also prepare pastries, creams and pastes.

Entering Villa San Giuseppe you are greeted by centuries-old plants and colorful flower beds.The park is characterized by a wide variety of colors and scents, and by a wide variety of aromatic plants and flowers, palm trees and centenary citrus fruits. Ideal for quiet walks and moments of relaxation.
A play area has been set up inside the park, and also inside the Villa Centrale, there is a play area for the little ones.
