Geschichte

Founded in 1839 by Saint Marie-Eugénie Milleret (canonized on June 3, 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI), the Religious of the Assumption, an international congregation, are currently 1110 present in 4 continents and 34 countries.

The life of the Sisters at the Assumption Center in Lourdes unfolded in different stages.

In 1884, Marie Eugénie bought the house in Lourdes which would become a boarding school where Bernadette Soubirous' nieces would study.

In 1905, the separation of Church and State will cause 21 years of absence from the Sisters. During this time, the gardener and his wife will keep the property emptied of its inhabitants.

In 1928, the Assumption Center became a workhouse and boarding house for ladies and in 1939, the house was requisitioned as a military hospital.
Later in 1971, a new pastoral orientation led to the consideration of a house specially devoted to spiritual retreats. Project entirely in keeping with the charism of Mother Marie-Eugénie.

Today, lay people have joined the Sisters, working together for the expansion of the Kingdom.

Their wish is to offer you quality, healthy, balanced and homemade meals and to encourage local producers.

A team made up of five nuns and lay people is at your disposal to welcome you in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

• The Center can accommodate up to 150 people.
• It contains a chapel, two oratories, meeting rooms, study rooms, a library and three dining rooms.
• It is equipped with video projection equipment suitable for viewing computer documents or films. It also has Wifi connection
• The Béthanie house located in the park can accommodate a group of 7 people (living space, toilets, collective rooms, independent entrance and exit possible).
• The Mamré house, also located in the park, can accommodate up to 15 people in free management.

Throughout the year, the community and the team of the Assumption Center welcome you to take part in:

• The organization of retreats and stops to rest, find the path of prayer, learn to pray with a text of Sacred Scripture... This includes individual or community prayer times, and possibly accompaniment.
• Sessions and retreats for families, to meet together under the gaze of Mary, to learn, share and grow in a spirit of joy and celebration.
• Sessions of biblical recitations and dances to pray to form, share, grow in humanity, and dare to relate.
• Spiritual stops, to learn to pray with the Word of God, from one's own life. Being able to share their discoveries and questions and, if necessary, talk personally with a guide.
