Geschichte

The hamlet of Farnières is located at the crossroads of very old paths which led from Vielsalm to Saint Jacques and from Lierneux to Grand-Halleux then Prussia. Saint Jacques was a stage of pilgrimage to Compostela. In 1926, Fernand Orban de Xivry, a nobleman involved in many early works, built a castle there. What was to be a hunting lodge will receive a chapel, classrooms and a dormitory, and will be donated by the family to the Salesian Fathers of Don Bosco. Currently, the castle is occupied by the CRH Don Bosco and the FOX spiritual center.

On the site of Farnières, there is a small very old chapel. Its origin is not known but the legend tells about its history. In the 14th century, a beggar discovered a statue of the virgin at the foot of a tree. He offered the statue to the Lord of Rosister who placed it in the chapel of his castle. However, the statuette stubbornly returned to the place of its discovery, the lord then understood that it was necessary to build a chapel there.

Essen & Getränke

Meals can be taken in the refectory, by reservation at least two weeks in advance.

Meals are served at fixed times:

• Monday to Saturday: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. - 7 p.m.
• Sunday: 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Dinner is often a soup, a hot dish and a dessert. Supper, on the other hand, is often lighter and consists only of a dish, cold or hot, as well as a dessert.

• Overnight : only accommodation for the night. It is however possible to take meals à la carte. The lodgings and rooms are available, on the first day, only from 5 p.m.
• Full board: includes dinner the night before, overnight stay, breakfast and dinner
• Guest Parking : Free car park for all guest outside the chateau. 
• Internet : Wireless internet is available in public areas for free.
• Cleaning: it is requested that the premises be returned to the condition you found it on arrival (swept floor, clean sinks and showers, emptied trash cans, tidy space)
• Charges: includes tourist tax, water, electricity and heating

• Smoking is prohibited inside the buildings.
