Geschichte

Before the opening of Domus Australia, long and complex renovations of the building and its architectural works were required, starting in September 2009 for a duration of almost two years.

The intention was to spread the Australian character throughout the complex: Australian materials and furnishings were used for this purpose, and works by famous Australian artists are present throughout the Domus.

Under the careful planning of architects and expert consultants, the renovations were carried out by the Castelli company, a family strongly involved in the projects of the Church since the time of Pope Pius XI (who attended school with the first Castelli builder) and who built many important church buildings.

Essen & Getränke

Domus Australia is able to satisfy any request and satisfy any palate. The property is also able to organize various types of events including business lunches (with table service or buffet), wedding banquets and special events, coffee breaks etc. The Cardinal Moran Restaurant overlooks a beautiful outdoor courtyard surrounded by a typical Italian cloister.

Dinners and drinks can be served inside the dining room or outdoors in the wonderful courtyard. The seasonal menus proposed by the Chef will give the opportunity to taste the typical Italian cuisine.

The restaurant also hosts a series of special events throughout the year, providing a first-class catering service with its internal kitchen, and is ready to satisfy all dietary needs (gluten-free, sugar-free, etc.) The restaurant opening hours are available at the reception, along with the à la carte menu.

The property also offers a wonderful terrace, called, Cardinal Gilroy, and is surrounded by an enchanting rose garden: the ideal place to relax after a day spent visiting the wonders of Rome.

During the warmer months the terrace offers a lounge area with tables. The bar is open from Friday to Sunday from 18.00 to 22.00. For all other days the bar has the same opening hours as the restaurant.

The property offers a wonderful outdoor courtyard and the cloister can be used by both guests and groups for special events.
This area can accommodate over 100 people standing, and offers a feeling of privacy as it is surrounded by the walls of the buildings that make up the Domus complex.The space is ideal for a welcome drink or for other group activities.

A large terrace is located on the 4th floor of the building. It is available for events and can accommodate up to 100 people standing for an event or cocktail.

The reserved and welcoming Lounge is available for small private meetings of up to 35 people or for your own moment of relaxation. In case of meetings, it can accommodate up to 20 people with a single table, still reserving a small area with sofas for group discussions and break-outs.

Domus Australia has offered many couples the opportunity to experience their special day in the typical Roman way. Furthermore, the Rector of Australian nationality can carry out the ceremony according to the Australian tradition.

The Cardinal Knox meeting room is a large conference space; it is located in the large crypt under the Chapel of Domus Australia. The room is able to assume different configurations and can accommodate up to 210 people theater style; it can also be set up according to your needs in a horseshoe shape or with tables for lunches, business dinners or other special events, and is also suitable for standing events (cocktails and buffets) up to a hundred people standing.
