Storia

The founder of the Imola Seminary was Bishop Francesco Guerrini, on the 1st of January 1567, and the first seat was the "Sancti Donati Chapel", in the San Cassiano district. 
The building was later enlarged by the bishop Msgr. Ercolani, and later Msgr. Musotti bought a larger building but in the same neighborhood.

The Seminary of the time of Msgr. Carrara (building still existing in Imola, in Garibaldi Street) was the work of card. Ulisse Gozzadini, bishop from 1710 to 1728, and was completed by card. Giuseppe Accoramboni (1728 - 1739).
At the time of bishop Mastai Ferretti (1832 - 1846), then Pio IX, the seminarians were housed in the bishop's palace for two years, because the seminary was used as a barracks.

In 1860 again the seminarians ended up in the episcope, for another five years, giving way to the Italian militias: as understood during the First and Second World Wars (seminarians could choose between going home, or to Monte del Re, or in the house adjacent to the Seminary).

Nowadays the Seminary is located in a strategic area, dominating the city, and in the center of a large park.
In 1969 the first stone was blessed by His Exc. Mons. Aldo Gobbi, and two years later it was opened to welcome seminarians.

The rooms inside the Seminary are very spacious, which is why over the years they have been used in various ways:
-with nursery, elementary and middle school courses, opening the doors to the Institute of Religious Sciences "S. Pier Crisologo" and to the Catholic School "San Giovanni Bosco";
-hosting the Sollievo, a center for assistance and rehabilitation;
-dedicating a part of the structure to the Pio IX Holiday House, open to students, workers, individuals and with particular attention to family members in hospital or at the Montecatone Center;
-in the basement there is an internal chapel.

Cibo & bevande

The property offers its guests a refectory with a capacity of 150 people, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Meals are not included in the room rate, there is a self-catering kitchen which please reserve in advance.

The price of the meals will be agreed directly at the Guesthouse.

Terreni & Giardini

The seminary and the holiday home are surrounded by a large park, available to guests for moments of rest, reflection and prayer.
