During your stay, you will explore Meteora, a unique geological and historical site in Thessaly, Central Greece. Kalampaka, the town at the base of the rock formations, serves as your gateway. Meteora is famous for its Byzantine monasteries perched atop towering sandstone cliffs, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The area offers stunning landscapes and gentle walking trails, with countless peaks and paths to explore throughout the year. For over a thousand years, Meteora's remarkable rock formations have captivated historians and geologists alike, inspiring many theories about how they were formed
Visit overview:
Explore the dramatic sandstone cliffs of Meteora and visit its historic monasteries, perched high above the valleys. Hike through scenic trails with panoramic views of the Pindos mountains and Kalambaka, while enjoying the region’s natural beauty, including wildflowers, herbs, and wildlife.
Program:
- Day 1: Arrival day at leisure
- Day 2: Morning hike to two monasteries (Great Meteor & Agios Stefanos) with guided insights into Orthodox faith and history. Return via the old monk paths. Includes coffee break and dinner. Afternoon at leisure.
