Aperçu

The abbey was declared a National Monument in 1928. One of the most famous buildings of the Middle Ages, the complex, has a fortress-like appearance. Its long and tormented history began before Christianity when it was a pagan temple. In 420, Saint Lorenzo built the first abbey, which was later destroyed during the barbarian invasions. In 680, Saint Thomas of Maurienne founded the second abbey, marking the beginning of the abbey’s golden age.

Hospitality inside the monastery is reserved for men only and only for a monastic experience. Do not call the monastery for a reservation.

Hospitality in the guest quarters is entrusted to the Brigidine Sisters and consists of 50 beds in 25 single, double and triple rooms (two can become quadruples), each with private bath and telephone. Both men and women are welcome. Towels and linens are supplied.
