Il en existe deux sortes :

1) À l'extérieur du monastère : 10 chambres individuelles avec salles de bains communes ; certaines peuvent être transformées en chambres doubles. Hommes et femmes sont les bienvenus.

2) À l'intérieur du monastère : 10 lits en chambres individuelles avec salle de bain privée ; seuls les hommes en quête de retraite sont admis.


Histoire

The church was founded in 1138 to host the sacred image of Santa María de Estíbaliz who has always been the patron saint of the Álava province. In medieval times, the highly venerated image was carried to meetings of the local government to bless the council.

For reasons unknown at this time, the church was closed and donated or sold to the government of Nájera. In 1923, the institution was regained by the local government and reopened. The Benedictine Order was invited to take up residence. Of the original buildings that once stood on the grounds, only the Romanesque church remains.

On request, all meals can be provided with the lodging. There is also a restaurant very close to the monastery.

By car: From Vitoria/Gasteiz take N1 east towards San Sebastián. At an intersection going towards San Sebastián or Estella, go right on route 520 and follow the signs to Estella for approximately 7 kms.

By train: Get off at Vitoria/Gasteiz and take a bus to Estíbaliz.
