Histoire

Silent Place stands within Quinta da Gravata, a century-old estate in Sintra of remarkable natural beauty, a place where visitors feel drawn to linger. Since the 19th century, four generations of one family have worked the land, producing wine, olive oil and bread, preserving both the agricultural character and the spiritual spirit of the site. It is believed that this was the home of the first Protestant congregation in the municipality of Sintra, and likely one of the first in Portugal.

After 150 years of history, it's time to honour this heritage by opening a welcoming retreat house for Christians and for all who seek silence, prayer and meditation. Comfort is central: the bedrooms feature high-quality beds and pillows, and every space is carefully designed to promote well-being and ease.
