The Abbey's accommodation features  28 beds in 17 single and double rooms, all with private bath. Individual guests are hosted on a Bed & Breakfast basis. Tea and coffee making facilities, TV and telephone are in each room. Two suites are located on the ground and are equipped for guests with disabilities.


Histoire

In 1170 a group of Cistercian monks founded the Abbey in Stanlow, Cheshire. Due to frequent floods that afflicted the monastery, the monks moved to one of their properties in Lancashire and established a new
abbey in Whalley in 1296. The entire complex including the abbey church, monastery and Abbot’s Lodging was not completed until 1440.

Whalley Abbey House has a 4-star rating in B&B standards. Other meals can be catered by the Cloisters Coffee Shop. Towels and linens are supplied.

The well-equipped conference centre offers several conferences and smaller meeting rooms and is accessible to the disabled. The Visitor’s Centre displays an exhibition of the development of the institution, pre-and post-Dissolution. It includes a gift and coffee shop that supplies homemade lunches and cakes. Guided tours are available.

By car: From London take M6 north, exit at junction 31 and take A59 towards Clitheroe. Whalley is 12 miles further and clearly sign-posted. By train: Take a train to Whalley from Blackburn or Manchester Victoria. The train station is half a mile from the Abbey.
