Aperçu

Dominated by the pointed peaks of mounts Amboto and Udalaitz, the historic town of Oñate lies in the Udana Valley between Vitoria and San Sebastián.

The hospedería belongs to the shrine but is managed by lay personnel. A one-star hotel, it contains 85 beds in 47 single, double and triple rooms, all with private bath. Both men and women are welcome.


Histoire

The present community is composed of forty friars. They plan to establish a museum about Arantzazu and its history in order to celebrate the 500-year presence of the sanctuary.

By car: From Vitoria take route 240 north (about 5 km) to a right on route 627. Continue approximately 25 km to another right on route 2630 to Oñate. Once in Oñate ask for the sanctuary.

By train: Get off in Zumarraga and take a bus to Oñate. From Oñate take a taxi to the sanctuary (10 km).
