Villa Crawford is a charming historic villa and a house of religious hospitality located in the picturesque Marinella area of Sant'Agnello, just 1 km from the enchanting town of Sorrento. Perched gracefully overlooking the sea, Villa Crawford is enveloped by a lush, expansive garden, offering guests numerous panoramic terraces and serene green spaces perfect for relaxation.

A delightful public and private beach is a mere 100 meters away, easily accessible on foot, allowing for spontaneous seaside strolls. For those looking to explore the surrounding treasures, convenient public transport options to Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Naples are just 900 meters away.

Histoire

Walking along the stretch of coast in front of the beach "La Marinella", overlooking the sea, resting on huge ramparts that rise from the water, you can admire the beautiful villa that belonged to the American writer Francis Marion Crawford, who chose to live in Sant ' Lamb since 1885, the year of his marriage. Thanks to the wonderful location, overlooking the sea, it is possible to admire the Gulf of Naples, the imposing Vesuvius, and the islands of Ischia, Procida, and Capri.

On the writer's death in 1909, the villa passed to his eldest daughter Eleonora, wife of the noble Pietro Rocca di Roccapadula, to whom he gave two children: Leone and Honorius. The first became a lawyer and, at a mature age, a Jesuit; the second became a talented musician and composer, and, on the death of his father, he became a priest and spiritual guide of many young people who frequented his house, Villa Crawford, which he donated, as early as 1954, to the Institute of Mary Help of Christians.

In the history of Sant'Agnello, this villa has played an important role, because it is a point of reference and meeting point of the cultural environment of the time, a cross-section of the nineteenth century, in which the original atmosphere is still palpable, despite the passage of time. The religious house boasts a tradition of hospitality and serenity. The climate contributes to making it a privileged place for spiritual recharge, rest, and relaxation.

Through the Oratory, an educational place open to all young people, it offers an experience rich in human and Christian values ​​which are expressed in a range of educational proposals suitable for different ages.

An internal restaurant is available that offers both the menu for half board and the menu for full board where it is possible to choose a first between two proposals and a second between two proposals.

La Villa Crawford est nichée dans un cadre magnifique offrant une vue imprenable sur la côte. Accessible à pied depuis Sorrente, elle bénéficie d'un environnement très paisible et est également très bien desservie par la ligne de train Circumvesuviana. Les chambres sont petites, comme le laissaient présager les photos fidèles du site web, mais d'une propreté impeccable et dotées d'une douche agréable. Le personnel était accueillant et serviable, et le petit-déjeuner copieux. Je recommande vivement cet établissement pour un séjour de qualité à un prix avantageux dans un cadre charmant et authentique.

Un paysage à couper le souffle ! Situé sur la côte de Sorrente, l'hôtel offre une vue imprenable depuis la salle du petit-déjeuner, le restaurant et la terrasse. Le petit-déjeuner était excellent et le service impeccable. Le jardin est magnifique. Nous avons séjourné en famille (6 personnes). L'emplacement est idéal, à seulement 10 minutes du centre-ville. Le rapport qualité-prix est excellent, surtout que l'hôtel est tenu par des religieuses. J'y retournerai sans hésiter !

J'ai adoré mon séjour à la Villa Crawford. Je n'oublierai jamais cet endroit exceptionnel. Un grand merci au personnel accueillant qui m'a fait me sentir si bien. Si vous envisagez de séjourner à la Villa, sachez qu'elle se trouve à Sant Agnello, à deux pas du centre de Sorrente. Sant Agnello est desservi par le Circumvesuviana et une jolie petite route vous mènera à la Villa Crawford à pied. J'ai largement préféré Sant Agnello à l'agitation de Sorrente.

Cadre magnifique, personnel accueillant, chambre simple mais très confortable, bon petit-déjeuner et excellent dîner (très raisonnable pour la formule Table d'Hôte), excellent rapport qualité-prix. Je recommanderai la Villa Crawford à mon entourage ; je suis le troisième membre de ma famille à y séjourner. J'ai beaucoup apprécié l'atmosphère salésienne et la possibilité de célébrer l'Eucharistie dans la belle chapelle. Mille grazie !

L'établissement est magnifique et la vue sur l'océan est spectaculaire. Le lit de la chambre (une place) était un peu juste pour mon mètre quatre-vingt-trois ; c'est le seul point négatif qui aurait pu améliorer le séjour.

Villa Crawford enjoys a privileged position: it is located overlooking the sea, in one of the most spectacular points of the Sorrento Peninsula, after Villa Fondi and the Pizzo garden, in a quiet area but only a few steps from the Marinella beach, and about 1km from the center of Sorrento (Piazza Badger). From Sant’Agnello you can easily reach the archaeological sites of Pompeii, Oplontis, and Herculaneum (25 km) by Circumvesuviana or Positano, Amalfi, Ravello with the SITA buses, and with just 15 minutes of navigation you are in Capri. Lovers of the sea and nature will find enchanting the landscapes of the marine park of Punta Campanella and the Bay of Ieranto (FAI protected area) located on the tip of the peninsula where the Lattari mountains degrade to the sea dividing the two gulfs of Naples and Salerno. Opposite, a few nautical miles away, you can admire the splendid island of Capri, once attached to the mainland and today the ideal continuation of the peninsula beyond the sea.
